An ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) is an approved marine navigation, charting and information system as defined by IHO Publication S-52.  It meets the performance requirements defined in IEC 61174 and IEC 60945. The major components of an ECDIS system include a computer, display, application software and electronic chart data. An ECDIS-N (Electronic Chart Display and Information System - Navy) is an approved marine navigation, charting and information system as defined by Navy OPNAVINST 9420-2.  These requirements include those from IEC 60945, IEC 61174, IMO A.817 and additional requirements defined by the Navy. To facilitate an overall ECDIS or ECDIS-N approved installation, Comark provides both computer hardware and displays which meet the applicable requirements set forth in IEC 61174 and IEC 60945.
